In 1972, Ben and Sally Combs opened Hobby Hut in Florence, CO.
At that time they ran the Florence Hotel. They used the basement of the hotel to begin their new adventure.
In 1978, Hobby Hut purchased the present location on 9th Street in Canon City and added the main customer area where we have our painting tables and kilns.
In 1991, two fifty foot long rooms were added to the back. One room contains our huge selection of greenware and the second is where we pour the greenware and where we also store many of the molds used frequently.
For 27 years Ben and Sally built the business so that it has the largest selection of greenware items of any ceramic store in Colorado.
In 1999, Ben and Sally retired and sold the store to Terri Bray. Since then Hobby Hut has maintained the store’s excellent inventory and served customers from Colorado and surrounding states.
In 2001, Terri added a 24 x 30 garage to store additional molds for HobbyHut. Terri continues to expand the store every day!
In 2013, Terri replaced the front roof and painted all the front buildings for a great new fresh look!
